Juan Riusech is a pivotal and unconventional figure in the contemporary jewelry scene. Originally from Barcelona but based in France for many years, he plays an essential dual role in the field of the contemporary art jewellery : that of creative artist and that of a conduit for art.

JUAN RIUSECH – THE CURATOR

It is arguably through his role as a gallerist and curator that he has made his greatest mark on the contemporary jewelry scene. He founded Alliages in Lille in 2009, an organization dedicated to promoting artist-designed jewelry.

An international platform: Through Alliages, he organizes thematic exhibitions that showcase works by artists from around the globe (often presented at major events such as Munich Jewellery Week).

A committed curator: Juan Riusech is known for his discerning yet benevolent eye. He does not merely exhibit objects; he creates dialogues between pieces, seeking to challenge the conventions of what is “wearable” and what is “precious.”

Supporting emerging talent: He is one of the few to consistently provide visibility for young creators alongside established artists, thereby fostering a cross-generational exchange that is vital to the discipline.
