Juan Riusech is a pivotal and unconventional figure in the contemporary jewelry scene. Originally from Barcelona but based in France for many years, he plays an essential dual role in the field of the contemporary art jewellery : that of creative artist and that of a conduit for art.
JUAN RIUSECH – THE ARTIST
Every jewel is a work of Art. The evolution of the art jewelry clearly shows there is a wish to go beyond the boundaries of traditional jewelry. When jewelry becomes art, the limits disappear, and the jewel-sculpture becomes an independent and timeless work of art, a wearable sculpture that uses the human body as its pedestal.
My workplace is like a laboratory where I like to experiment with new materials and often mixing old and new techniques. I’m always going in thousand of directions, never doing the same, but there is a red thread that links everything.
Since 2010, I explore the heart as main subject of my work, the heart as source of life or death, the heart as the center of emotions.
